Agent Alexei Dementyev has assessed the prospects of Roman Kantserov with the Chicago Blackhawks. It was previously reported that the 21-year-old forward has decided to leave Metallurg and continue his career in the NHL with the Blackhawks.
“When evaluating Kantserov’s chances in Chicago, I believe Roman is looking at the current roster situation there. The team’s composition is favorable for him, and he has an opportunity to earn ice time with the main squad. There are many factors that determine a player’s ability to perform at the high level of the NHL, and we shouldn’t forget that he’s joining the Chicago system,” Dementyev said.
Asked whether Kantserov could become a full-time NHL player in a season or two, the agent replied: “That is the toughest question, and no one except the player himself can answer it. Look at how many players have gone there with different height and weight measurements, trying to establish themselves in the NHL, only to fail and come back. Every case is unique.”
