Jannik Sinner is currently in top form, and as the French Open approaches in less than two weeks, tennis legend and coaching icon Patrick Mouratoglou has drawn a striking comparison between the Italian star and Rafael Nadal. Mouratoglou firmly believes that Sinner will lift the trophy at Roland Garros, stating, “I think Jannik Sinner’s chances of winning the French Open couldn’t be higher.”

“Many think he’s the big favorite, but people are completely underestimating it,” Mouratoglou continued. “For me, he has the same chances that Rafael Nadal had throughout his career.” For context, Nadal won the French Open 14 times and lost only four of his 116 matches at Roland Garros.
Mouratoglou’s confidence is also bolstered by Carlos Alcaraz’s withdrawal due to a wrist injury. Alcaraz had won the tournament in the previous two years, becoming the first champion since 2015 not named Nadal or Novak Djokovic. “Jannik has a huge lead on all surfaces, except perhaps against Carlos – but Carlos is out now. It’s not about his playing style, it’s about his unmatched dominance,” Mouratoglou added.
Last year, Alcaraz defeated Sinner in a spectacular five-set final, coming back from two sets down. Now, with Alcaraz absent, Sinner’s path looks clearer. The Italian has been in phenomenal form, winning five consecutive Masters titles in recent months, including a dominant 6-1, 6-2 victory over Alexander Zverev in the Madrid final.
