According to a report from Michael Grange on Sportsnet, both general manager Bobby Webster and head coach Darko Rajakovic are expected to receive contract extensions in the coming weeks.
Grange noted that Webster and Rajakovic each have one year remaining on their current deals, but internal sentiment leans toward avoiding uncertainty as they approach the final season. “You don’t have your head coach and general manager head into the final year of their contracts as lame ducks, not after a playoff year,” one league source said.
Toronto’s season ended with a seven-game first-round defeat to the Cleveland Cavaliers, a tightly contested series decided by narrow margins. The Raptors were eliminated after a 114–102 loss in Game 7 on May 3, following a sequence where each team held home court before Cleveland sealed the series.
Another well-placed source framed the timing of any extension around internal process rather than urgency, stating, “It will happen when it happens,” specifically referring to Webster, “but it will happen.”
Toronto’s roster production supports the case for stability. Scottie Barnes averaged 18.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game, while Brandon Ingram led the team with 21.5 points per night across 77 contests. RJ Barrett added 19.3 points per game, giving the Raptors three primary scoring options with overlapping offensive roles.
Rajakovic’s system showed clear defensive improvement during the postseason, particularly in the middle games of the series, including a 126–104 win in Game 3. However, the Cavaliers’ ability to execute late in games ultimately tipped the series back in their favor.
