19-year-old Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva, a silver medalist in women’s doubles at the 2024 Olympics and currently ranked world No. 7, has addressed the ongoing debate over privacy in professional tennis. She admitted that the issue does not particularly trouble her.
When asked about the frequent discussions at tournaments regarding cameras recording players in areas where they would rather not be seen, as well as Roland Garros’s plan to remove all such cameras, Andreeva replied: “Actually, I haven’t seen that announcement yet. But I know many players have complained about being filmed everywhere — in the gym, the restaurant, and other places. To be honest, I haven’t been filmed that often, so I don’t really complain. There haven’t been many videos of me posted on social media. Since I haven’t been filmed much until now, I probably won’t feel much of a difference.”
