Six horses logged odds of 8-1 or better during Monday’s draw for the Preakness Stakes. 
Iron Honor emerged as the slight favorite for Saturday’s race, carrying 9-2 odds after the post positions were announced on Monday. Ridden by Flavien Prat and breaking from the No. 9 post, the colt sits just ahead of a trio of 5-1 contenders: Taj Mahal (post 1), Chip Honcho (post 6), and Incredibolt (post 12).
Ocelli, who surprised with a third-place finish in the Kentucky Derby at 70-1 odds, is listed at 6-1 and will start from the No. 2 post.

Golden Tempo, the 23-1 long shot that won the Kentucky Derby, will skip the Preakness this year. Trainer Cherie DeVaux cited the horse’s “health, happiness, and long-term future” as the reason for the decision. Since Justify won the Triple Crown in 2018, only three horses—Authentic (2020), Mage (2023), and Mystik Dan (2024)—have competed in the Preakness after a Derby victory.
The Preakness is scheduled for approximately 6:50 p.m. ET on Saturday, but for the first time due to renovations at Pimlico Race Course, the race will be held at Laurel Park in Laurel, Maryland. Coverage will air on NBC and stream on Peacock.
Ocelli, Incredibolt, and Robusta all ran in the Kentucky Derby on May 2, with Ocelli finishing third. Great White, a massive 17.2-hands-tall, nearly 1,300-pound horse, was scratched on Derby Day after rearing up and falling over in the post parade, unseating jockey Alex Achard. Corona de Oro was a Derby alternate but did not run.
Historically, the inside post has been more advantageous in the Preakness than the Kentucky Derby. Triple Crown winner American Pharoah won from the rail in 2015, followed by War of Will in 2019 and National Treasure in 2023. The last horse to win the Derby from the rail was Ferdinand in 1986.
